Tell us your thoughts on what we can do to make HoRP a better place for the community.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AT ITS FINEST WITH STYLISH CAPITALIZATION FOR EXTRA EMPHASIS. HELL, WHY NOT MAKE IT ALL BOLD?

I suggest revision of the moderation staff. Shonengetsu is hardly active from what I can see. The Admins should start employing new, unbiased staff to oversee the boards if this site is expecting to get off its ass.

While I hate to double post, I really think this merits some revision. I know of only one moderator who is actively checking the forums and as far as Administration goes, MG responds on the off occasion to posts. What concerned me the most is when MG told me I had made no real contributions. It pained me to believe that the things I labored to write were considered fruitless by one of this site's administrators. I know there are a lot of posts to read through and not all of them merit your time, but seeing as you were able to overlook all of my contributions, MG, I suggest you add new, trust-worthy people to your moderation staff that do have an interest in the current events of fighting and not just the older History. Frankly, everything occurring is History if it's not the present moment, so we should be less focused on what has already gone down and more focused on the History to be made.
While I don't have any nominations as to who should be a moderator on this site, I do see a great amount of enthusiasm about fighting from Red Lightning Z/Lance Ryan Williams/Revolutionary and think, based upon the quantity and quality of his contributions, would make a good member to server as moderator. He certainly has more time and currently plays a more active role in speed fighting than the existing staff of this forum. Remember, this is only a suggestion and if you have someone more qualified then be all means feel free to employ them. If you think the staff you have now is suitable given the influx of posts that this place might be getting from the traffic the present fighting generation is attempting to bring in, then I wish you the best of luck.

I'll keep your suggestion in mind once things heat up around here again.

Here's my all-time suggestion. If MG alone got back into speed-fighting, that'd rally up a lot of attention. Most fighters left because the pool of combatants diminished and recycled repetitively. To me it's in having the high-tier remain which draws in the low class to be inspired and driven to progress and stay fit to speed-fighting. Or any form of text fighting.
For instance: Some will strive to match up to someone they're unable to beat, even if they feel like they never will. It's still a fire for them to get going. People could easily depict MG as a reason to get back into speed-fighting. When he leaves, that motivation dies off - just as when most departed people grew disappointed. Nobody wants to fight the same residual batch of nobodies over and over again, especially if they're not even good to begin with. That's why a challenge should be presented when needed.
Not everybody wants to involve themselves in a video game in which it's too easy to beat. They yearn to test their caliber as a player.

Doubt it. At this point, what'd rally attention is people actually doing shit rather than endlessly thinking about doing this or that.

Here's the problem with that, Violet. MG's return marks an uprising of fighter activity, sure. But you know what kind of fighting he inspires? The bad kind. MG's responsible for the entire "A hand to the hand hit the hand on the hand" bullshit that's around now to begin with. Do you really want him coming back and inspiring even MORE people to do that? HUH?

I'm not sure if I would call Shonengetsu biased. He was actually quite friendly to me at a time when many people were being biased. I didn't see that kind of attitude coming from Shonengetsu, unless of course, he was being biased in a way that escaped my attention. He had no reason to show me any favoritism, being as he hardly knew me, and actually he really disliked the people I was affiliated with.
I agree with Wendigo, however. I don't really care what kind of fighters there are, so long as people start fighting again. I really despize people who make false claims, and challenge other people's honor, but then use 'retirement' as an excuse not to fight or settle an issue that could just as easily be put to rest. I have been retired for many years now, but I'm not afraid to get down with people who challenge me. I've never been one to disrespect others or make false claims. I ended up learning the value of respect and honor a long time ago, way before I stopped fighting. In many ways, textual combat literally saved my life. If it wasn't for the friends I met on-line several years ago, I probably would've continued to run the streets, and most likely ended up dead the way I was going. It was not an easy road to get here.
Today, I mainly help to train people and occassionally I'll get in on judging a few T1 battles here and there, but I don't use my retirement as an excuse to belittle others. I wouldn't want someone to do that to me, so why do it to someone else? If there's any way I can be of assistance to anyone on this forum, just let me know. I would like to see textual combat be restored again to its former glory, even if it's in the form of RP storylines instead of fighting records. I've never been much of a roleplayer, but nowadays it seems like RPing is the way to go. Most of all, I just wanna see people have fun.

Wesley brings up an interesting notion. We're at a time where remaining speed-fighters can't afford to be picky with its competitors. This nit-pick of every nick-nack and scram of fighting crucially cuts down on the populace of fighters by itself. We can progress gradually in terms of cleaning the styles, and slowly cutting back on how others choose to play the game. Leniency is imperative before intriguing the customer, and with that we'll round up another sale.
This isn't just for our sake in recruiting another nancy yay-hoo to serve this self-righteous belief in what fighting is and how it should be. It's so the sport can be done on good terms, and also so the conflict/negativity may die down. Clearly the circumstances aren't 100% cureable, but at least we can make them manageable.
All anybody has to do to be a better distributor of appropriate ethics and good showmanship, is taking things little by little and demonstrate patience. Give them your time, and essentially they too can grow onto you and a proper fighting system.

There is a new Sheriff in town, and his name is Rias Blight. I'd like to official announce on this section of the board that I am now a GM on the site. Which will begin to open up the floodgates of questions and answers.
First...it seems that the ranks do change around here, it can take some time...just like good aged whiskey. And the bartender happened to serve you up a good brand.
Secondly, this site is a vortex of not just old warriors, but new...A harmony which comes together when history inspires the young to create a new path. A place where the knowledge from generations of the most well known fighters apply all knowledge to one thing they've loved. People try to hate on it sometimes, even people who were once deep within it. This petty act only shows how closely attached they are to it just as anyone else in this world.
Continuing on as a community which has been forged in bonds which have lasted over a decade, we will keep the torch lit and pass it on too whom need it. This is the Legacy we pass on...
