Although my alias is most recognizable to regulars of Realchat, I went under an assortment of different names back on the website where I got my real start into the RP world, chat-avenue. The one who first brought me to RC was Mew or Sorrow as I knew him back on the Digi-chats. Those weren't exactly glorious times but they were much simpler. I was one of those average guys, never taken a glance at twice and generally a pleasant person. Who I was then doesn't even remotely resemble the type of person I am now and I regret that, truthfully. During those days I was like... a smarter & nicer version of Sadara Uchiha? I doubt many people know who that is but the gist of the comparison is, I had heart, I liked to defend others but I would get my damn face pounded in during the process. I've known the gist of what speed fighting is for some time. I first learned T2 alongside [K]rl when he was NewMysticGoten. I was never particularly good and I'm still just a slightly above average case when it comes down to it. I had stronger motivation back then though...or maybe I had a severe case of 'taking the Internet too seriously'. Mew would beat up on my friends regularly. We were still pretty low tier and were conforming away from connections like *hits* and whatnot.
Seeing everyone lose time and time again to a douche-bag ( no offense ) was a little disheartening. I didn't do the ballsy thing and get better though. I went to turn-based fighting. I made an RP brother out of Kadu the Echidna. Don't ask about the name but he was a cool guy. He had all the normal problems and when the time called for it he was borderline sagely. The two of us would sit back, play Halo hours on end, wage little epic mini battles and create unique stories. He was the most human person I ever knew, if that makes any sense. Typically I'm a reserved guy, emotionally not socially. If I was to pick most influential, it'd be him. He taught me the more important lesson about fighting which was to have fun with it, win or lose.
It wasn't until maybe 2009 that I even took up speed fighting. Who got me into it? Tala Valkov. If you don't know that name at least vaguely then you've probably taken a long break from the speed fighting scene. He's one of the two people to call me brother and take it seriously. His attitude can be obnoxious but he has a lot of heart. He was better than me by more than a lot when I was just getting off the ground. He started off the biggest learning process in my time as a speed fighter. I got used to the bitter taste of defeat and it only made me want victory more. He's probably the only reason I even trained. I would bump out hundreds of posts not stopping over time and he's the guy I wanted to beat. It was great because I wasn't staring at his back, trying to catch up to him, I was staring at the spot in front of him, adamant about surpassing him. Today the score is always a lot closer than it used to be but the whole fighting scene dulled down and it just doesn't mean as much. I still really love it.
In terms of the para stuff, over the years I've mingled with a lot of good people. Zyclin is the one who taught me how to turn-based to modern standards an conditioned me to be a reactive, clever thinker, exploring all the possibilities in any given situation. Ironically enough, Mew, the guy who was beating my ass in speed maybe 4-5 years ago was also helping me learn T1 with Zyclin. I'm not an extraordinary fighter but I'm well rounded. There are literally no styles I consider myself incapable of doing because all of these great people melded me into who I am today: A more proactive, innovative, bold and daring person.
I really owe a lot of things to a lot of people. Caitlin, Francis, Ben, Kyle, Brad, Forte, Dirge, Musa, Tala, [K]rl, Shadow Manductor, Mew, Zyclin, Lance, Violet, Prettz, Vine, Ukyo, Ryoma. I mean, I don't have great stories for every name but I'm sure if someone has even fought with me once, I'm thankful for the support. Even if some of these guys don't know me too well, it's more of an indirect form of inspiration based around their own fighting style. I really hope to get better than what I am now but furthermore, I want a reason to be better.
