All of you can have your official website fights, with your T1 and T2, and speed. Where I come from, the system has degraded into a non-existent presence, which is saddening. But for myself, nothing defined my career like this.
Two, maybe three years past. We jump into a bad day, or good, whichever. A crowd is present. Two combatants stare each other down, and then it begins. Within three turns, it ends. Or, at least, that is what they both thought.
Timeskip, a year or so ahead. They meet again, not for the last time. Again, it's short, yet sweet. Nothing is lost. Nothing is gained. Both are equal, unparalleled, their reputations naught, yet SO influential.
Again, we jump. Months, years. Now, we stand at the present.
In the beginning, Arata was the target of much degrading. When push came to shove, though, he was ready. His elegant style, although met with intolerance, was true to the heart of role-play.
I was an ambitious kid, wanting the approval of my peers, and the opportunity to have fun. A room with some guests, two "equal" characters, and enough tension to choke a child.
I began. An attempt to finish it quickly with a two-section staff, failing before it lands. Arata phaselocked behind me, and although the "cannot detect me due to different frequencies before I reappear" thing is questionable, the outcome was NOT.
Although his attack was behind, a quick throw of the Astral body into a sensory enhancement and a quick turn landed a firm blow on one knee, then the other. Within three turns, the fight ended, and with it, began a rivalry.
Cue Letters from the Sky-Civil Twilight.
"Throughout the years, on AirG, there have been rivalries. There have been fights, rematches, resurrections. But NEVER, in the history of this site, has there been a rivalry so strong.
You can carry on with your psycho-talk, telling me I'm not true to myself. The truth is, I'm not. Not when I face you. In all my years, NOBODY has been worth the effort, the time. You gave me something. You gave me a challenge. And I accepted.
Now, standing here, staring you in the eye, I can't say anything more, except, bring it."
Cut to montage footage.
"You think we're not evenly matched, that we can't EVER have a fair fight. I disagree. So, here it is. I'll lay it down for you. One-on-one, no interference. You, me, no limits. We can use abilities, fists, weapons, trees. Fight in the air, on the ground, wherever, whenever! One more fight. One more match. And then, regardless who wins, I retire."
I hope he reads this. *man-giggle*. Seriously. I will do this.
