Description: Hybrid is like an evolved version of Freeform. Its creators considered it as the ultimate form of fighting, the long sought blend between T1 and T2. There are no word limits: instead, there are line limits. Each post must be atleast two lines.
Another unique thing about this style is the fact that it requires stancing or an opening post. There is no range needed. There is also no hit limit, so the fighters can kill each other with the first hit.

i remember you fighting someone from alab in this style one of the first times we went there. you started winning and they got mad and started saying how you have no friends. and. they were boasting about having like 300 contacts in their cell phone. like they were all true friends. lol'd. i don't know if you remember that or not.
kyoshiro maybe. that guy was pretty good.

As a blend between T1 and T2, I'm really interested in the mechanics of the style. It seems a bit vague and I can imagine 'line limits' don't work as well in some chats thanks to zoom functions being implemented and computers having different resolutions. While two lines is okay for a general idea, I would really like to see the rules of hybrid expanded upon in a more complete guide so it can come back into use.

We'd need to get some of the old school hybrid-ists to cook one up and post it. :<

I'm from alab. I was there when Hybrid was essentially being cooked up. There was Hybrid before our time in #kendo_club, and after, and most of us that were there during the 'golden age' are forgotten. People remember Kyoshiro and Sephiroth, and sometimes even Black Luster Kaiba, but these guys were after the greats. I don't claim to be one of them but I was there with them (I was Jack, owner of KC after its glory days) and we did great things in KC. A lot of us reached a level I haven't seen since, and those were my fastest years and I was only 13. It was based in default mIRC settings for most scripts at the time, two lines being the bare minimum but three being the norm, with posts often spilling into four lines. The thing is, the post before yours had to be entirely accounted for in your counter or block, meaning you often had to erase huge segments of your forthcoming post to accomodate what your opponent was dishing out. If you countered, your opponent's follow-up had to be altered accordingly. It was speed, but if your post wasn't syntactically accurate it could be rejected. You had to acknowledge the story unfolding during the battle; it was the perfect intersection in a sea of turn-based and speed. We really struck gold, but I never saw it replicated after us and our RP culture died quite quickly.
