Official Tournament ruleset:
Punctuation - The only punctuation that will be needed in the tournament is a capitalization of your opponent's name each time it is used. No other punctuation will be completely necessary unless agreed on by both fighters before the fight. This will help avoid the argument of a PSS20 match over something as stupid as a comma.
AAA - Also known as Advance And Attack. This didn't even used to be a real rule, but since it's become so popular today this also will be agreed upon by each fighter before the match.
Action signs - Fighters may use one or two action signs, it does not matter which one you use. Even if your opponent is using two and you are using one. This is up to them. No one has the right to complain about this rule, because in the old days we didn't even have to use action signs if we talked "IC" with quotes all the time. The only thing about this is once the first line of a fight is posted, that is considered your action signs. All posts thereby afterward will follow your action signs in accordance to your first post; anything else will be counted toward your typographical errors.
Typos - Typographical errors are referred to in the T2 rule book as 2 typos is valid, and 3 is void for tournaments. In styles MT2 & above it is 3 valid and 4 void. All Royale styles are considered to be no typographical errors and name in every post (excluding RP lines i.e. preps).
Spacing errors - an error in your spacing even if both words are spelled correctly other than the space will count as two typos. In example: hish and will count as two typos his* hand*.
Choice of style - The style you two fight will be agreed upon by you and your opponent. Of course the styles will be divided for each tournament into a range of short & long styles. If in the future we get enough fighters, we can possibly combine the two into one bigger tournament but for now this is the best way. If the two can't agree on a style it will auto default to the middleground style. Say if I want T2, and my opponent wants S15, the middle is RT2A so that's what we will fight if we can't agree. If there is no clear middleground, the judge/referee will decide what is the best style to be fought in middleground.
Opponent's name - You will call your opponent by the name they are fighting on. No shortening of this name will be allowed during mid-match, the only way you can shorten it is if you agreed upon it before the match.
Characters - You may log on with any character name, as long as you and your opponent know who eachother is. i.e. I registered for the tournament as Ukyo, but I use random names all the time; I'm permitted to use another name. I will however still be referred to in the forum section as Ukyo to avoid confusion.
Deaths - Every fight can be a death match, this will add an RP effect to the tournament. The way this will work is once the judge has declared someone the victor with 5 points, the winner of the fight will decide if the fight is to continue to the death. If someone has 5 points first, and declares it a deathmatch and then they are the one to die they lose the match.
Death evading - A lot of people don't know this rule, but you are not allowed to dodge a finisher. You can't block a finisher, the only way to get around a finisher is a valid counter. A counter is a mixture of a dodge/block, and then an attack in the same line. Counters do require the name of your opponent, because you need a name in an attack. (If it's Royale it requires a name regardless).
Time outs - Time outs are not valid if issued after an attack. If someone attacks and you call time out, the other has the right to connect and count it as a valid hit. Each user gets 1 time out, because let's face it we all know things happen computers are screwy, families are screwy, the phone rings at inappropriate times, and maybe you're Rias and your house caught on fire. Just use your judgement wisely if someone is using timeouts to cheat.
Disconnects - You are not determined auto death once you disconnect. Computers are screwy at times, if a fighter disconnects during the tournament you will have a 5 minute time limit to return to the fight. The fight continues from where it left off, if an attack from your opponent was issued just before you were disconnected you will continue from that part. The referee will let you know what they attacked with, and what you are to dodge once the fight has been resumed.
It's go time - All fights will be started by a 3... 2..... 1..... Go countdown by the referee. A fight will not take place unless both fighters have issued go after the referee has done so. This will help prevent pretyping in at least one form. The 321Go countdown will also be done any time a match is continued when its paused for any reason.
Long & short combined - Assuming the winner from the long, and short bracket is a different person. The champions of each may face off in any style which is included in the tournament. If they can't agree on a style, the middleground rule will take place. This includes all the way from T2 to RMT2A.
Xat fighters - Yes I do want to incorporate Xat fighters in our tournament, no I do not feel their rules are solid enough for a eden's era tournament. There's only one thing we can do here. Xat fighters will either have to succumb to eden's era rules or both fighters will have to agree to fight Xat style & the referee will need to know xat styles as well for the fight to be valid.
Brackets - They will all be generated randomly (when I return I will be the one generating them to ensure there is no regenerating) Brackets will be created using challonge, all brackets from now on will be generated also with a match for 3rd place. This is the best generator we can use for multiple reasons, it will include a live update image which will update when you post it here as you update it on the website, and it also totally randomizes the seeds so nobody can complain who they get put against.
So hands down most of the rules can be decided between the fighters themselves. Which seems to be the best way to structure all of this.
**If your name is not Ukyo please do not edit these. I've worked hard on them to bring fairness to all the tournaments.
