I'd like to take a small section of this site right now and see how many of you have came back and are active. Seems that Char31 blood still runs very deep in a land long forgotten. Please, enter your name, year you started in Chars, and any fun snip it from the past.

You are trying to dig way too far back into my memory bank. Unfortunately, I have only fleeting glimpses back into that time period, so I can't give a complete history of that period with 100% accuracy.
But I remember that Multicity was the root of it all at one point, the 'Tower of Babel' so to speak. It was from the patrons of Multicity that I eventually learned of places like Charmanders31, Kads DBZ Battlechat, GWing, TuxedoMask, Usagi&Mamoru's, and of course, the legendary CastleOfDragons.
I used to make visits to Chars31 between the years 1998-2002, not as a member, but as a challenger from other chats. I remember that I wasn't very impressed with the fighters over at Chars31, and in fact, there were only a few people there who I later considered to be any good. The guys that I used to roll with would often go to Chars31 just to fight them, because for us it was like basic training.
I'm not 100% sure when I first met Rias, or Flik, but I met them both early on during the 'golden era' of RP, some time between 1998 and 2002, back when I used names like Judah Avious, Juvious and Kanretsu, and I remember bringing all 3 of those characters into Chars31 at one point. Back then I wasn't doing T1/TB and ART like I am now, back then I was really more of a speed fighter, so I used styles like T2 or Freestyle/Freeform, and actually I learned AA directly from Rias himself, so that was definately during my prime. I remember thinking that Rias and Flik were both very good fighters. I never actually fought either of them, and in fact, I became a student of Rias after learning that he was the founder of AA, which I actually started practicing in Multicity before I met him.
I remember we had a WPM tester back then, and I believe that back in 2000 is when I was probably at my fastest typing speed. I think I was tested and clocked at around 96 words per minute, and that was just on average. My higher scores reached well over 100 WPM, which back in those days, meant you were pretty damn good. I never once lost a fight in Chars31, and in fact, I spent some time in TuxedoMask and Usagi&Mamoru's, then later returned to Chars31 to help defend it against invaders. So it's kind of ironic and funny to think about it. I went from being an invader myself, to being a defender of Chars31, during the time when a popular clan known as the Yakuza had started the epic 'War of 2000' throughout Multicity and its affiliated chats.

" Yakuza had started the epic 'War of 2000' throughout Multicity and its affiliated chats. "
I was in Yakuza / ¥ on another character for quite some time, there were two sides to "Yakuza" at the time period. There was the general part of their army/clan and an elite side. Elite had to prove over 200 WPM at the time in order to get in, and there were only a handful of us. I remember back when I spent all my time typing and practicing it took months to get into their elite side.
Unfortunately, they later tried to invade U&M and Chars31; U&M being my home, I left Yakuza developed the RoyalMoonKnight's, (thus how I got my name so long, lol) and fended off the Yakuza attackers.

I never did anything significant in Chars, but I was there. I was a pretty good fighter but I was never "elite", so I was usually protected by my brethren. I remember being told to stay away from Squall at all costs. He must have been a beast.

Not to mention Forge, or Sledgehammer, who were other very good fighters from that time period. Forge and Sledgehammer were both members of my own clan, the Norsemen/13-Vikings. You also had DarkWolfKatie, who was actually one of the first really good female fighters, and of course Melkor, Watcher, BlastXKato, Blink182, those were all good fighters from that time period, though not necessarily from Charmander31's.

I've been around Chars so long I have no idea what year I started. I had a lot of fun with Chars and many good friends. Raided the hell out of that place with my army along with Joey, Zion Knights. Most memorable event was beating Kyros in chat two shortly before I defeated MG. Just loved to randomly go in there and have fights with people. There's a lot of history in that chat, and glad some of the best out of there still appear now and again.

Rinoa, I actually met in real life at one point when I was 16. She only lived a couple of hours from where I had moved and I decided to make a trip up there in the middle of the night. Funny enough, I had decided to use my mom's car at the time as mine was having trouble and on the way there I accidentally ran a red light and got t-boned on the right side of the vehicle lol. I remember having to tell my mom about that, oh lord was that a crappy time as a teenager lol.

Haha 12 years later and people still remember. Noob days Over the course of my RP Career, I started in Pikachus, went to Char31's when it went down and stayed till maybe 2001. From 2000-2002 I was in TuxedoMasks (Anime Forum) It was not until 2006 I discovered Myspace chats, epic times as well. After Myspace went down I made it to XAT "By Chance" in 2009 spread the Myspace philosophy of s20 speed, converted a bunch of s10-t2 players. Been a very long and storied, if not sporadic RP "career" xD

Jiminy. How long has it been?
Squall. That guy. Sometimes known as Kyros. I popularized the quintessential good-guy role before I totally warped it because I didn't know what I was doing. Also, I fought. Rias taught me and is still someone I highly respect.

I was there. I don't remember my exact username, think I went through a few. Raven was probably the name I spent the most time on. I was never any good at fighting; I didn't learn how to type correctly until I went to college and had to take a mandatory typing course.
I still do it, though. But it's T1 now over on GaiaOnline and Valucre.
I think about Char31 and XL occasionally. I even talk to Kimoura every now and then. I majorly tripped when I saw this. I couldn't believe anyone had remembered that place. It seemed so, so long ago. Still can't believe it!

I found this thread while doing a random Google search for Char31. I went on in the years between 1998 (could have been 99) and 2002. I used a lot of names over the years, one of which was Ruby Yang, Mika something...it's hard to remember.
I was very active, and knew Squall, Miaka, Julian and Elliott (I'm trying to remember his handle...it started with a K), etc.
I started out on ACE Digimon and migrated over their within a year. I really miss those days, I wish that I could find something similar..but I think it was just a time and place sort of thing.
